Club de Arte 10: Medallas y Certificados Etapa 1

"I like to draw" / "I didn't like it when the teacher left"

THEME FOR WEEK 10: Medals and Certificates for Stage 1 of Art Club 2014

IDEA AND AIMS:  For the children to have the opportunity to think about all of the activities that they have participated in during these 9 weeks of the first stage of Art Club 2014 and record what they have liked and not liked through an evaluation sheet, where they can also share what they feel about their abilities in collaborating, creating, communicating, respecting one another and trying new things.  For the children to then celebrate all that they have achieved during these weeks by creating themselves a medal to take home, along with a certificate that the facilitators give them.

PROCESS:
1. In two boxes of the evaluation sheets the children each draw something that they have liked and something that they have not liked.
2.  In the smiley to non-smiley face table, the kids tick how well they feel they that they: 1. communicate 2. respect 3. share and collaborate 4. create and 5. try new things.
3.  The children each create a medal using paint, Fomix and tissue paper to decorate polystyrene plates and attaching a ribbon to hang it around their necks.

MATERIALS: Evaluation sheets, pencils, rubbers, sharpeners, felt pens, polystyrene plates, paint and brushes, palettes and bowls, coloured Fomix and glitter-gold Fomix, scissors, silicone, masking tape, small pieces of cardboard, tissue paper and colourful ribbon.

TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT THE KIDS PRODUCED:

NUEVA PROSPERINA:

The drawings from the kids in Nueva Prosperina show that they enjoyed making the animals, the puzzles, the hands and the parks.  Amongst the things the didn't like were fighting and running.

SERGIO TORAL:

The kids in Sergio Toral drew amongst their likes drawing, making the parks, painting rainbows, friends in Art Club, making the football pitches and painting the Easter Eggs.  Most notable amongst their dislike were that Jonny had left!

SOCIO VIVIENDA:

In Socio Vivienda the kids have enjoyed drawing and painting, the puzzles, the Easter Egg painting, the tree of hands and playing with friends.  They have not enjoyed the egg ramp, the noise, the fighting and the hitting.

(Clockwise from top left) "I like Art Club and my best friend was Jonny" / "I didn't like it when the teacher left" / "sad goodbye crying" / "Art Club misses you Jonny!"

It's been our first week of Art Club post-Jonny and his absence was notable, as you can see from the messages in the kid's evaluations.  But alongside his absence we have been lucky enough to have our British boss, the lovely Olivia, here supporting us in the transition and accompanying us in Art Club.

Thanks Olivia for all of your support!
Safe journey home.
:-)
