Carmen Martins
A
challenge I overcame: To come out of a coma without any long term damage
A dream
for my future: To help humanity in some way.
A hope for the global community: World peace
Carmen is the lovely lady-of-the-house at the home-stay that Step 1 set me up with for the three weeks of the language course. Carmen keeps the beautiful family home spotless, and it provides a comfortable space not on for the family, Carmen and her husband Antonio and two adult daughters Olivia (who speaks great English and loves driving long distance when the family head out of Floripa to visit extended family) and Aliane (who has an incredible number of medals for martial arts and drives a moto), but also up to 5 student visitors at a time (although throughout my 3 weeks I was the only student, so had the huge dinning table to myself to study without distraction each night).
Highlights of the house included Carmen's delicious breakfast feasts, of freshly blended fruit juices mixes, cereal, cake, biscuits and sandwiches, with the occasional omelette or pancake treat left over from the family's Italian styled restaurant around the corner from the school. The swimming pool was also provided a refreshing cool-down the few afternoons I used it, and of course the gorgeous cat Kasouza and dog Max who seemed to get on surprisingly well (and although Carmen says sometimes Max will pose, he didn't let me take any photos of him)!
Carmen, muito obrigada por toda a hospitalidade, e todas as cafés de amanha tão gostoso!
Que desfrute a companhia dos próximos estudantes.
Um abraço
:-)
