An hours bus
ride and an hours hot and dusty walk takes you through to the Playa Docas beach
where Emma James, Moley & I camped overnight last Thursday.
Aparently on
their last visit Emma and James had the beach to themselves. This time the summer season means the
majority of Chileans are on holiday so Docas was busy and lively, with plenty
of folk camping like us . Under the
gorgeous stars (Em saw a shooting one, yay!)s we savoured choclos
(corn-on-the-cob) and veg cooked on Em& James’ well crafted fire and Emma
counted 13 other fires along the beach.
The roar of the
huge Pacific waves was calming, although their strength warranted red flags and
signs warning against swimming. Some
lads were doing head jumps into the waves, most folk would wade in up to the
ankles or at most knees then come running back up the beach as the huge waves
hit, sometimes just late enough to get drenched! I managed a couple of ducks
fully under and other that that enjoyed the up-to-the-knee dipping and just
being close to the ocean again.
