ONE: Diego Mauricio Espinel Pulido

Diego Mauricio Espinel Pulido

A challenge I overcame: To survive in Latin America without money
A dream for my future: a rolling circus

A hope for the global community: I'd like for everyone to be happier and more united

Diego – what a delightful warm burst of positive energy!  Passing him and his mate busking at traffic lights on the corner of Avenida Brasil, Diego jumped up from beside his unicycle to share a huge warm hug and so Camilla, Dani and I stopped for a brief moment of story swapping.

Diego and his mate are Colombians, traveling by living from their circus skills, hence Diego's answers of having survived the challenge of living in South America penniless and of his dream for his own nomadic circus one day. (Diego, si lo encuentres este libro, creo que vas a encantar suya magia: ElCirco de la Noche’ escrito por Erin Morgenstern [The Night Circus"] es hermosa, surreal y magico!)

A very open person, Diego also trusts in the meaningfulness of our ‘caminos’, our paths, to take us where we’re meant to be at any given time... when I was explaining why we happened to be crossing that particular set of traffic lights he said more simply it was because we were ‘meant to’ (we were passing there to check out its potential as a time-lapse spot because according to Julio Cesar this corner is where the two youngsters who triggered the beginnings of the ‘fileatedor’ tradition were born)

From just these few shared moments we parted from one another with a happy bounce and huge smiles and hugs, and as we waved back over our shoulders Diego shouted flung us a beautiful flying comment that might roughly translate as “ai you’ve re-filled my soul!”... I felt exactly that... it is amazing how energizing and joyful a simple moment can be when it is shared with a kind hearted stranger who has the courage and character to look directly in your eyes and see you and let you see them.

Diego, mil gracias para compartir ese momento tan hermoso an alquela esquina – de verdad tocaste me corazon y llenaste mi alma!
Suerte en tu viaje, y que cumplas tu sueño de tener suyo circo rodante.  Esperando a visitarlo algun dia! :-)
