Te Quiero BsAs: Dear Paola....

Querida Paola,

Felicitaciones para tu aniversario de 20 años de vivir en Finlandia!

Y que montón de cosas por celebrar - las tres lenguas que aprendiste, tu carrera tan impresionante y creativa y la familia hermosa que tienes - wao, eres un inspiración Paola!

Vi a tu post en facebook de la fecha del anniversario unas de mis primeras dias llegando en Argentina, y sentia en una manera sincronizada, que vos, quien eres de Argentina, estaba celebrando su vida de emigrante en Finlandia, mientras yo, originalmente de Escocia, estaba disfrutando el principio de que parece una época de ser emigrante aquí en Sur America! Entonces por eso digo que eres una amiga muy muy estimulante Paola.  Admiro mucho el coraje que tenias como una mujer tan joven para seguir las llamadas de tu pasión y tu corazón, que tenía el fe que van a llevarte en tu propio camino.... me inspira mucho!
 
Aqui te envio eses dos imágenes desde Buenos Aires, de un artista Mariano Sapia, que ví en a Casa Cultural de Borges.  Lo de arriba me gustó por su tema de Tango y el pasión de la vida que lleva esa baile, y también por la calor que transmite, que parece una característica de ustedes Argentinos, quien son tan acogedores y lindos!  Y me recuerda del seña en el taller de fileteador Julio César que dice: "La Vida es una Milonga".

Y eso aquí abajo encanto por su mujer caminando desnudo por la calle.  Por primera vista del cuadro parecía un choque que ella esta caminando así - y me preguntaba: y porque? y que si ella tenga algun crisis nerviosa? Pero luego pensaba que considerando el letrero de gimnasio me imaginaba que para Sapia tal vez eso sea un comentario en el percepción de la belleza de las mujeres.  En el contexto de esa galería de Borges y su otra exposición sobre Marilyn Monroe me ponía pensar otra vez en como nosotras mujeres aveces 'actuamos' nuestra feminidad, y que tal vez la mujer desnuda aquí en realidad es la más honesta, y la más 'femenina' en su confianza de la mujer vestida tan 'sexy' en su lado, por ejemplo.  Y ahora, en el contexto de tu y yo en nuestras diferentes caminos, y la cosa de ser emigrante, estoy pensando en la valentía (the raw bravery! the guts! - en ingles lengua muy del cuerpo) que hay que tener para caminar seguramente en un nuevo lugar, una ciudad o país desconocido.

Entonces, gracias Paola por ser una mujer y amiga tan impresionante y estimulante, un ejemplo de que sería posible!

Y felicitaciones para tu aniversario otra vez.... que disfrutes muchísimo todas las aventuras que vengan

So, thank you Paola for being such an impressive and inspiring woman and friend, an example of what is possible!

And what a lot of things to celebrate - the three languages that you learned, your impressive and creative career, and your gorgeous family - wow, you are an inspiration Paola!


I saw your post on Facebook about the date of the anniversary during my first few days in Argentina, and felt in a way synchronised, in that you, being Argentinian, were celebrating your life as a migrant in Finland whilst I, originally from Scotland, was enjoying the beginning of what seems to be a period of living as a migrant in South America!  So you really are an inspiring friend Paola.  I really admire the courage you had as such a young woman to follow the callings of your passion and heart, to have the faith that they would lead you along the correct path for you... amazing!

Here I'm sending you two images from Buenos Aires, paintings by the artist Mariano Sapia, that I saw in the Borges Centre.  I really liked the one above for its subject of tango with all the passion of life that the dance transmits, and also for the warmth the painting transmits, that reflects that characteristic you Argentinians have, of being so lovely and welcoming.  It reminds me of the sign in the fileteador Julio César's workshop that said "Life is a Milonga".

And the second painting I love for its woman walking naked down the street.  At first glance it seemed shocking and I wondered why? is she suffering some kind of breakdown? But later I thought that considering the sign saying 'gym', perhaps Sapia intended the painting to be a commentary on the perception of women's beauty.  In the context of this Borges' gallery and the neighbouring exhibition about Marilyn Monroe, I thought again of how we women sometimes 'act' our femininity, and that maybe the naked woman here is in reality more honest, more 'feminie' in her confidence than the 'sexily' attired woman she is passing, for example.  And now, in the context of you and I on our different paths, and the point of being a migrant, I am thinking of the bravery (the raw bravery! the guts! - very bodily language) that one must have to walk confidently in a new place, an unknown city or country.

And congratulations again on your  anniversary.. I hope you enjoy hugely all the adventures that are coming your way!
